NEW DELHI, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The Indian Air Force (IAF) saidWednesday that it is to launch a modern and reliable digitalinformation grid on Sept. 14, which would enable faster response to anythreat.
The AFNET will replace the IAF's old communication network set- up in use since 1950s.
"This monumental achievement also marks the successful clearanceof a milestone for release of radio spectrum, a very valuable butfinite resource.
IAF has taken up a mandate to create and maintain anassured, dedicated, secure and inter-operable communication networkalong with associated services to provide real time, instantaneoustransfer of information between Sensors, Command and Control (C2)centers and Shooters," the release said.
It added that the Indian Defense Minister A.K. Antony will launchthe AFNET services in the capital at the presence of Telecom MinisterA. Raja.
